| The Men Behind the Killing of Nick Berg Yesterday, we reported that Nick Berg was killed in Iraq. Today, new information has surfaced: Berg was supposedly detained by the Iraqi police and U.S. troops. It is also believed that the man who beheaded Berg was indeed Musab al-Zarqawi. Apparently, Iraqis were suspicious of his electronic equipment and Jewish last name, so they detained him briefly. It is believed that he was then offered safe passage back to the States, but he opted to instead stay in the war zone. Why he chose this is unknown. Berg also e-mailed home, saying he had been detained by coalition forces, but the coalition has denied this so far. It was the belief of his friends and relatives that he was headed to Iraq International Airport to return to the U.S., and the next they saw of him was the video of his death. Although originally doubted, it is also believed that the hooded man beheading Berg is indeed Musab al-Zarqawi, the 37 year old Jordanian native terrorist, with a $10 million bounty on his head. He is apparently a close associate of Osama Bin Laden. Why he is involved is not currently known. We will continue to keep you informed as news arrives
