The Nightwatch Program, Inc. - Crime Prevention At Its Best
Business Watch

Similar to Neighborhood Watch programs, Business Watch is a program designed with crime prevention in mind, only with Business Watch, the people uniting to help stop crime are businesses, not single people. The program's goal is to bring together both members of local companies and members of law enforcement in order to locate and identify crime, train employees for emergency response, and educate workers in crime prevention techniques. When used properly, a Business Watch program can greatly cut down on business related crime.

Why should companies be involved with business watches? The police can handle it, can't they? Nope. The police are only human, and they cannot be everywhere at once. Since they are not sitting on top of your business 24/7, it takes time to reach a crime in progress. By the time the police arrive, the crime could already have been committed. Therefore, the need for employees trained to help prevent crime becomes clear. A network of employess who are trained to spot suspicious activity, and then relay the information to fellow businesses and police in the area can greatly reduce crimes in that business watch network. Having a Business Watch in effect can help cut down on robberies, car thefts, and anything else you can think of at a place of business. Many businesses also place signs on their premises to inform any trespassers that the building is part of a business watch program.

Interested in becoming a part of a local Business Watch? Make sure your employer accepts the idea, and contact your local police department. The police should have everything you need to become part of a Business Watch in your area, and can help you enter into a business watch, or help you start your own. With the proper training and teamwork, a Business Watch can deal a heavy blow to business related crime.
