How to?

i am new to forums and I didnt meant to post a bulletin without commentary.

I am living in a community which had a very active and engaging neighborhood watch. This was a group of neighbors who was active for a strong period of time, even going to city council meetings. We're having a rash of car burglries, but I dont see the group out anymore. How can I engage the group and get them active.

Re: How to?

@ Catalyst4Change, Welcome to the community forums. I'm sorry to hear about your neighborhood watch program. The program isn't dead, and I know that for sure, because there is dedicated life in that program. How do I know this? Because you took the time to research information. You may need to be the new life that spurs the program on. Let me address your question "how": You first might want to reach out to your police department, and find out who your block captain or neighborhood coordinator is. These positions are usually volunteers who live on the street, that act as the liaison between the program, and the police. If you can't locate this person, find the Neighborhood Watch coordinator at the police department, and register (if necessary) to be a member of the block watch. I would suggest then, scheduling a meet. Arrange for meeting space, and post fliers in the area (be sure this is acceptable in your municipality and never post on trees.) You may need to resurrect the program, and nearly start from scratch, but your neighborhood will be grateful. Let me quickly address your car burglaries: This is a pretty blatant form of crime in your community. Make sure never to leave valuables in the passenger compartment, and always secure the vehicle doors and arm any alarm systems the automobile may have. Next, start watching.
